MEMBERS & FRIENDS MEETING AT THE GERMAN SOCIETY
Join us tomorrow, Tuesday, July 17, 2012, 6:00 to 8:00pm, at The German Society of Pennsylvania. The German Society of Pennsylvania is a nonprofit organization devoted to furthering the understanding of German and German-American contributions to the growth of American history and culture from the past to the present, and into the future.
Officially founded on December 26, 1764, The German Society of Pennsylvania is the oldest German organization of its kind in the United States.
We will visit the Joseph P. Horner Memorial Library. The library is both a lending library and a research facility, housed in an original 1888 reading room built for that purpose and recently restored by the Society. The library houses more than 60,000 volumes, three-quarters are in German. It is considered the largest private collection of German books in the United States (outside of universities).
