Philadelphia Center
for the Book is seeking member artists to
participate in Artists' Books: Creative
Structures, an exhibition at Allens Lane Art Center. This exhibition will take place from September 8 - October 26, 2012.
Members are invited
to submit work, old and new, that celebrates the exhibition's theme of book structure.
Applicants are encouraged to submit traditional and non-traditional books that explore
this varied and open-ended concept. Some suggested formats are accordion,
single-sheet, jacob's ladder, tunnel book, pop-ups, flag books, flexagons,
wallbound pieces, etc. This
gallery is open to the public and unmonitored. While some accepted pieces will
be displayed in cases, artists are encouraged to also submit pieces that are made to be read,
held, and explored.
HOW TO MAKE BOOKS author Esther K Smith of Purgatory
Pie Press in New York, NY will select work from submissions. There is no
fee for members to submit, and, while submissions are open
only to members of Philadelphia Center for the Book, anyone may become a member with
submission.
Click here for application forms. If you
are not a current member and would like to submit work for consideration, a
membership form is attached to the application. Membership levels and
rates can also be found here.
