Special Discount on Workshops for PCB Members

The Eilandarts Center in Merchantville, NJ is offering a 10% discount to PCB members for the following one-day bookbinding workshops:

Buttonhole Binding

This one day workshop teaches the buttonhole binding. This binding is very attractive with an open spine, which invites to experiment with papers and colors. We start with a short introduction about bookbinding and book art. We then go on to make one to two sample books with soft covers and than bind a larger book with the buttonhole binding. Participants will discover foundations in bookbinding and book arts. We also explore a diversity of materials and the use of tools of classical bookbinding.

Date/Time:
Sunday, April 28th
from 1-4pm
Cost: $65

Accordion Binding

A simple yet versatile accordion style binding technique. A great feature of the accordion is that you can stand them up and view all the pages at once. This makes them perfect for displays and exhibits. They are also the starting point for many different bindings, like the flag book or the star book , just to name a view. We start with a short introduction about bookbinding and book art. We then go on to make one to two sample books and than fold a larger book with hardcovers. Participants will discover foundations in bookbinding and book arts. We also explore a diversity of materials and the use of tools of classical bookbinding.

Date/Time:
Sunday, May 19th
from 1-4pm
Cost: $65
