Simple Sewn Book Structures
Taking place Saturday, Sept. 9, 2012 from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM
In this one day workshop, students will learn the basics of sewing books by creating a series of simple sewn structures. Beginning with a single signature pamphlet, students will learn the basics of folding and sewing. Expanding to two and three signature books, students will learn how to sew multiple signatures and create different types of covers. Finally, we will make a soft cover, Japanese-style stab binding as an alternate to the classic folio style books.
Students will leave the workshop with 4 completed book structures and the basic knowledge to start sewing simple books on their own.
